Just fifteen minutes away lies pretty Stonehaven Harbour, along with twenty miles of bird watching coastline. Explore the magnificent ruins of Dunnottar Castle, watch the regattas in the summer, or visit at Hogmanay when you will see the traditional Fireball Festival in the “Auld Toon” area of Stonehaven.

LOCAL CHILDREN SHOW THERE’S A DEEPER MEANING TO LOVE THIS VALENTINES DAY AS THEY SHARE KINDNESS CARDS WITH RESIDENTS AT LANDALE COURT IN ABERDEENSHIRE

Local children showed that love really is all around – distributing kindness cards to residents at Brio Retirement Living at Landale Court in Chapelton this Valentine’s Day. Originally the brainchild of Gillian Stevens, a member of the Chapelton Community Association (CCA), kindness cards were created as a way of sharing the celebration of love on Valentine’s Day without focusing on romantic partnerships – especially for those who may be alone or widowed.

“AS SOON AS I STEPPED FOOT INSIDE LANDALE COURT I KNEW I’D COME HOME”

Pat Edward is a joy to meet – he’s friendly, chatty and has a sunny disposition that makes sharing time with him so enjoyable. At 79 years young he’s lived in many locations stretching from Aberdeen to London but recently decided to move not far from where he was born, to a beautiful new home at Landale Court in Chapelton. Pat’s positivity is rather remarkable as his story has a heartbreaking twist, due to his move tragically coinciding with the deterioration of his wife’s health as she battles with severe Alzheimer’s. Pat’s wife no longer recognises him, and he was unable to give her the professional medical support she requires, therefore Pat decided to move somewhere where he can be close to her but also live in a community where he too can access support if he ever needs it. ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS FOR THE CHEF WHO HAS HEATED UP HACKBRIDGE WITH HIS CULINARY TALENTS

Born and bred in Madras, a vibrant city in the southern coastal region of India, renowned for its hot curries and bustling street food culture, Harish – also known by his nickname ‘Rishi’ - Suresh’s passion for food began at an early age. His desire to cook led him to pursue Hospitality Management in India, where he laid the foundation for his culinary career. Harish, 39, has since gained extensive experience in Indian and global cuisines by working at some of the top 5-star hotels across India. Expanding his horizons, he moved to the UK in 2007, where he worked with many high culinary experts and also lead as Head Chef at an esteemed establishment in Mayfair. Today, the Slate and Grain brasserie, bar and coffee lounge at Button House in Hackbridge is honoured to have Harish at its helm.
