Meet Some of our Newest Residents, Sandy and Vera

This month we meet Sandy Morren and his wife Vera, two of our newest residents at Landale Court, a wonderful couple in their 80’s still very much enjoying their independence and making the most of their new life at Chapelton.

Landale Court is a very happy place - we moved here on March 27th and have both said we should have done it earlier! However, I’m happy to say, both Vera and I are still very active and so we were able to cope with the move with Vera making it very lovely here already. She’s talented at creating a home, ‘savvy’ is what we’d say! Our last one in Dyce was described as a ‘Sanderson’s showroom’ and she’s put her same lovely touch in here. Friends, family and even staff have commented on how impressed they are. We are both very settled and enjoying life here. The staff are wonderful and we’ve met some lovely residents. We’ve been to a few of the coffee mornings which are a great way to meet people - already I’m losing Vera on the corridor chatting to new friends! Just this week she was advising someone on getting some new glasses following a cataract operation (she used to work at an Opticians - it clearly never leaves you!)

A Small World

We’ve also bumped into a few people we know - I’ve discovered a neighbour who was in the same trade as me. And there’s a work friend I know who goes to the Mens club here which I will get to at some point! Then, understandably downstairs is our old neighbour and friend from home. She is actually the reason we’re here - we used to have keys for each other’s houses and look after things when each of us were away. She told us about Landale Court and how she planned to move here for her retirement. Well - we were sold - both Vera and I thought it sounded wonderful and so the next day we came here for a coffee - what can I say - soon after we’d chosen our apartment!

The Right Move

It’s easy to put off moving - especially when you’re still coping fine at home, but we are future-proofing ourselves so we don’t have to do it later. That’s what’s so great about Landale, the support is here if you need it, but you’re left to your own devices if you want to be. Vera and I still enjoy days out, and visiting friends and family - I still drive so we’re very independent and we like to go off and do our own thing. We’re close to our grandchildren- our granddaughter is about 13 miles away and comes over regularly, and our grandson 20 miles away. They both helped us to settle in and love where we are. There’s also the lovely countryside on our doorstep and Tesco down the road, we have everything we need and are looking forward to a Summer of nice days where we can make the most of the weather and our surroundings - everything is nearer than where we used to live so it’s much easier. We’re very much looking to the next chapter of our lives here at Landale Court.
