LATER LIVING DEVELOPMENTS ACROSS THE UK LAUNCH THE BRIO TAPESTRY – KNITTING COMMUNITIES TOGETHER BY HELPING THOSE IN NEED
18 February 2026
Homeowners based across three Brio Retirement Living developments in Aberdeenshire, The Cotswolds and South London have launched the Brio Tapestry project today – where homeowners, school children and local residents in each area will come together to knit a tapestry of items for charities, hospitals and the emergency services.
Items knitted will include scarves and blankets for homeless charities, soft hats for premature babies to donate to local hospitals, plus trauma teddies and soft toys for children in emergency situations, which will be donated to the emergency services.
The three Brio developments include Landale Court in Chapelton, Beechwood Park in Stow-on-the-Wold and Button House, in Hackbridge. Local primary school children will also be invited to join in, with the developments teaming up their younger volunteers with experienced homeowners to create ‘knitting buddies’.
Jess Nicoll, National Sales and Marketing Manager at Brio, shared: “Our homeowners are always looking for ways to help their local communities and following on from our successful reverse advent calendar last month for local foodbanks, our avid knitters have embraced this new challenge with both hands!
“We’re also encouraging any keen knitters in Aberdeenshire, The Cotswolds and South London to join us in our challenge and to please get in touch with our teams. Items can be donated at our development reception desks, or we’re welcoming knitters to take a warm seat in any of our onsite Slate and Grain brasseries. We can’t wait to share the creations and look forward to donating the much-needed items.”
Once completed, the knitted items will be handed over to local hospitals, cancer support charities, homeless charities and the emergency services located in and around the three areas.
Anyone interested in taking part can contact enquiries@brioretirement.co.uk for more information.
