Dorset is a county of contrasts, with a hugely varied landscape between its countryside and coastal areas. The Jurassic Coast is a 200-million-year-old stretch of shoreline that is listed as a World Heritage Site due to its geological significance. Further inland you’ll find beautiful rolling hills and lush meadows.

Dorchester offers many museums and other attractions, from the extraordinary Keep Military Museum to the wide-ranging Dorset County Museum. You can also discover Dorchester by way of several town walks.

The nationally-famous Brace of Butchers has won several high-profile awards since opening in 2014, while Cherryade Life Store is famed for its promotion of independent designers.

Poundbury Gardens is a beautiful and extensive garden centre, while the local Waitrose and Poundbury Village Stores will take care of all your essentials.

Public Transport

Poundbury is situated just off the A35, only a mile to the west of Dorchester. Regular buses, including an environmentally-friendly electric bus service, link the town with Dorchester and beyond to the rest of Dorset.

Two rail stations – Dorchester South and Dorchester West – offer fast services to London (Waterloo), Bristol and Weymouth on the South Western Main Line.
